In this 90min Journal Calligraphy zoom workshop, you will learn
Learn the fundamentals of Calligraphy
(1) Understand the fundamental principles of calligraphy, including stroke thickness variation and letter formation.
Learn to use a pressure sensitive tool to obtain calligraphy effect and practice writing the lowercase letterforms.
* You will just need a PENTEL Brush Sign Pen! (Cost ~SGD $2)
Concepts and Principles of calligraphy
(2) Learn the essential basic strokes of calligraphy, which also are the building blocks of lowercase letters.
Learn the ratios of the ascender space, x-height and descender space, slant lines and breathing space of letters.
Discover the how-to's of lowercase letter formation, and understand the principles behind combining letters to form words and write these in your journals!
Trace Over Words for your Journal Entries
(3) Each participant will receive digital copies of journal entries and planner pages for you to PRINT OUT to trace over, providing a practical and engaging way to apply their newfound skills.
Immerse in Mindful Practice and Gain Confidence in Starting a New Creative Hobby
(4) Participants will explore how calligraphy can be a meditative and mindful practice, helping them slow down and focus on the present moment.
The expertly crafted journal entry templates are resources that are designed to help you build muscle memory.

I'm just starting out with calligraphy. Where should I begin? Is this workshop for beginners?
Absolutely, we all start somewhere! The best starting point is to JUST START! Gather your basic supplies: Pentel Brush Sign Pen, or any other brush pen that is pressure sensitive, print out the materials on normal printing paper and join in the zoom session or watch through the training video (replay of zoom live available after 25 May 2025). The Sundays Dawn guide sheets provided are designed to help you write in brush pen calligraphy calligraphy! Through the zoom workshop, you will be guided to start with simple strokes and basic drills to get a feel for your brush pen and its flexibility! And that is the beginning of something beautiful!
Will I get instant access to everything when I sign up?
